Meet the Team: Matt Burns

As we always say, the team here at TLH is the heart and soul of everything we’ve built over the past 16 years. And one of the key players in our dream team is none other than Matt Burns, aka Matt B, not to be confused with Matthew Fairclough, although we admit the matching bald heads and glasses don’t make it easy to tell them apart.
Matt’s been part of the TLH family for six years now, and in that time, he’s become the driving force behind the beautiful, high-performing websites we produce. He’s that rare mix of creative and technical, a unicorn in developer form. If you’ve ever landed on a TLH site and gone “ooh” or “ahh,” chances are Matt had something to do with it.
From Graphic Designer to Web Wizard
Matt started his career in graphic design but quickly realised he had some opinions about how developers were building the websites he designed. So, like any reasonable, not-at-all obsessive creative genius… he decided to learn to code. A few years (and countless late nights) later, he’s designing, developing, and launching websites with pixel-perfect precision.
The Office Clown (with Serious Skills)
No day at TLH is complete without Matt cracking jokes, winding up the girls, or dramatically demanding his next brew (milk, no sugar, and not in the Liverpool mug, thank you very much). He’s the first to lighten the mood and the last one to enjoy an early morning. But when you see the level of work he turns out? We forgive him for the slow starts.
What Does Matt B Actually Do?
Aside from breaking his desk chair at least once a week, Matt leads all things technical at TLH. He oversees the web team, mentors our very own Junior Web Developer Jordan (lovingly referred to as his padawan), and generally keeps the technical machine running. He’s also known to spot and solve problems before anyone else even realises they exist.
He’s got a sharp eye, a sharper wit, and, according to Tony, is “the greatest signing since Mo Salah.” Bold claim… but not entirely wrong.
Since Matt joined, the technical side of the business has gone from strength to strength. Whether it’s a complex custom build or a sleek refresh, he’s the one making sure it runs smoothly, and exactly how the client imagined it.
Outside the Office…
Matt’s weekends are usually spent in one of three ways:
- Watching the mighty Preston North End (sometimes joyfully, sometimes… less so).
- Having a wholesome weekend somewhere cute.
- At the pub, pint in hand.
He’s a walking combo of sarcasm, creativity, and code, and TLH wouldn’t be TLH without him.
